2016 Masters — (Unhappy) Recap

By | April 11, 2016

I’m not sure what to say.  I am still trying to decipher what happened to Spieth on the back nine yesterday.  It is never fun to watch someone beat himself (unless it’s Bubba).  Meanwhile, don’t overlook Danny Willett playing steady golf through three days of awful conditions then going lights out on Sunday and posting 67.  (GOT fans — Danny Willett = Theon Grayjoy?)

Kudos to Spieth for hanging in there and battling after making a quad on 12.  He was missing it right all week and the twelfth hole on Sunday was the first unfriendly bounce Jordan saw.  Too bad that yielded a mental lapse that manifested itself a chunked pitch and the rest was history.  Don’t start crying Van de Velde just yet.  Spieth remains deeply talented and he’ll turn it around.  After dropping 9.7 units, we plan to do the same.  Looking forward to following up a career worst weekend with a big bounce back at Oakmont.
