2016 PGA Championship — Round 2

By | July 28, 2016

Off to a 2-1 start including a nice dog at +127.  The long-term outlook is not as positive but, there is a lot of golf to be played and today showed us to expect the unexpected.  I liked Rory over DJ and I’m not surprised to have a 3 shot lead after 18 holes.  I am, however, surprised to see them at +4 and +7.  DJ gave us his best impression of a 26 handicap on the 18th hole.  Kaymer looked a lot like the guy that dominated at Pinehurst.  Day said he was sick and he’s on the first page of the leaderboard.  The greens confounded Spieth and there is a lot of chalk in danger of missing the cut.  Look for regressions to the mean tomorrow (talking to you and the 4.5 strokes gained putting Grillo).  Note to the greens crew – cut and roll the greens.  They’re slow and bumpy; you killed the late times today.  Lots of day two action (one unit each unless stated otherwise)…

McIlroy +101 over D Johnson
Spieth +140 over D Johnson
Mickelson +120 over Stenson
Watson +105 over Rose
Schwartzel -106 over Kaymer
Oosthuizen 125 over Z Johnson
Vegas +132 over Grillo
Palmer -106 over Simpson
Kirk -106 over Palmer (1.5 units)
English -106 over McGirt (2 units)
Pieters +113 over Wiesberger

Best of luck today,
